Vehicle Wrap Information: The Ultimate Guide
Vehicle wraps are a powerful branding and marketing tool for any business. 3M states that “There has also been a notable rise in other wrap applications, including boats, motocross vehicles and a wide assortment of personalized items such as skateboards and ATVs”.
Consumers want their vehicle exteriors to be customizable and vinyl wraps are the perfect outlet. Wraps are very personal and relevant to the consumers in the area. Again, 3M points out that “Using vinyl as a way to customize belongings has been a growing trend among cultural leaders and influencers.”
Let's break down why your company should invest in vehicle wraps, how MAD Creative Concepts wraps a vehicle, and the design elements that you should include in a wrap.
Top Five Benefits of Vehicle Wraps
1. Cost
According to the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA), mobile advertising is the most effective and efficient form of outdoor advertising, reaching more consumers at a lower cost per thousand impressions (CPM) than any other form of outdoor advertising. The cost per thousand (CPM) is 0.77 cents.
2. Awareness
One vehicle wrap can generate between 30,000 – 70,000 impressions daily.
Fleet vehicle advertising boosts name recognition 15x greater than other advertising media.
24/7 advertising for company vehicles.
3. Engagement
98% of Americans indicated they noticed media targeting vehicles and drivers.
Unobtrusive advertising message. Wraps are consumer-friendly and less off-putting than other in-your-face advertising options.
4. Appearance
Vinyl wraps allow your company to stand out from the competition. Your wrap can be personalized to your company and cover as much or as little of your vehicle as you desire. You can even do windows.
5. Easy to change
Vinyl wraps can be updated to reflect a new service, company rebrand or just replaced due to excessive wear and tear. That’s what is great about vinyl, it can be taken off the car without damaging the paint underneath and replaced.
Our MAD Wrap Process
1. Planning and Prep
First, bring your vehicle(s) into the shop for measurements and visual inspection. Our graphic designer will take photos of your vehicle and use the measurements to create custom graphics to fit your specific vehicle(s). We will send you the proofs of these designs and ask for feedback. Once satisfied with the design we will move on to printing the design.
*Time-frame Breakdown:
Measurements and Photos: ~30 Minutes
Graphic Design: 3-5 Days from Measurements
2. Print, Lamination and Install
Now that we have the design approved, we will print and cut the vinyl from our in-house print shop. We use high-quality 3M vinyl and an Epson SureColor S80600 to print the wraps for the best results.
It is at this time that we will schedule a time to bring the vehicle(s) back to our facility to be wrapped. Before you arrive at the shop please take your vehicle through a NO WAX car wash. This is vital to ensuring that the vinyl has a clean surface to adhere to, but again, please do not have the vehicle waxed.
Now that your vehicle(s) is in our shop we will have our installation crew professionally install the wrap on your vehicle. Depending on the complexity, size, and number of vehicles the completion time frame will vary, but we will keep you updated every step of the way.
*Time-frame Breakdown:
Print, Laminate and Cut Design: 2-3 Days
Outgas: 12-24 Hours
Drop Off: 30 Minutes
Installation: 1-2 Days
3. Pick-up and Send-Off
Finally, once the wrap has been installed, we will call you back to the shop to pick up your fresh-looking ride. You will have the opportunity to look over the work and once satisfied you are on your way! Be sure to leave a review on google and tag us in any social posts, we love to see images and videos of our work out in the working world.

Wrap Design Elements to Include
Now that you are knowledgeable about the benefits of vehicle wraps and know the MAD wrap process here are our top 3 design elements that your wrap should include.
1. Business name, logo and contact
These are the three must elements for every vehicle wrap so that potential customers know who you are and have a way to get ahold of you. If your vehicle design allows it, add service areas, awards and unique characteristics that might make your vehicle stand out, but be careful not to overwhelm potential customers.
2. Keep the design simple
The design should have clean, clear callouts. You want potential customers to find the information they are looking for to take the next step to ask about your business' services. Remember, it's okay to have negative space.
3. Keep the design on-brand
One of the most overlooked aspects of a vehicle wrap is making sure that the vehicle(s) match your company image. Work with design elements that you use in other parts of your business so that the overall message is consistent. If brand work is a foreign language, ask how MAD Creative concepts graphic designers can help you with creating a wrap that is on-brand.
There you have it; the ultimate vehicle wrap guide! If you still have questions about vehicle wraps or any other wrap applications, like walls, boats, ATV’s and others please give us a call or send us an email and we would be happy to discuss how MAD Creative Concepts can help you.
*Timeframes are based on an average estimated time. This can vary depending on the complexity of the design, the number of vehicles, or delays in materials.
